Jay Carow holds professional degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, M. Arch., and the Illinois Institute of Technology, B. Arch. He has been a licensed architect and design principal in architectural and planning firms since 1969 and served as an expert witness since 1985.
He has programmed and taught university courses in architecture and building technology for twelve years. His highest academic rank was full professor. He was the founding dean in leading the planning and start up of Malaysia's first degree-granting programs in architecture, planning and building technology. In his seven years teaching at the Illinois Institute of Technology he also was responsible for exploring revisions in the architectural and design curricula .
He is a licensed architect in Connecticut, Indiana Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Wisconsin.
