Experienced in the design, specification, procurement, installation, start-up, education of personnel, and maintenance of equipment in highly technical metal processing facilities. Has repeatedly carried out multi-million dollar projects from the original idea to the successful completion and operation.

Now retired, is doing industrial consulting, such as supervising start-ups, trouble shooting of operating problems, field service engineering, educating operators, acting as expert witness, etc. Also active as Chairman of the Board of Assessment Review in Annsville, NY, Past Treasurer of Rome Rotary Club, and member of the Rome, New York, Family YMCA Board of Trustees.

Supplies expert technical and engineering services for the sales, service, start-up, field service engineering, and trouble-shooting of industrial equipment, and forensic engineering to determine cause of failure. Provides expert witness testimony for the litigation of industrial accidents, machine performance, OSHA Rules, NFPA Standards, Electrical Shock and Electrocutions, etc. These services are available worldwide, and, to date, have dealt with projects as listed at the end of this resume.

Major producer of low carbon, high carbon, alloy, and high strength-low alloy strip steels, precision cold rolled strip steels in standard coils, traverse wound coils, and cut lengths.

Title: Engineering Manager
Managed the entire engineering function. Responsible for designing, purchasing, installing, and maintaining all plant operating equipment and facilities. Supervised four engineers, three foremen, and 21 technicians. This included recruiting and training personnel, dealing with governmental bodies, engaging and supervising contractors, and acting as the company’s spokesman, especially in dealing with all energy-supplying utilities, the NYS Public Service Commission, etc. The equipment installed has enabled the company to become the premier cold rolled strip steel producer in the United States.

Significant Projects: Three-stand cold rolling mill; single-stand reversing cold mill; roll grinding machines; Z-mill; 20 batch annealing furnaces; double loop slitting line; traverse-wind coil slitting line; electrical substation; heavy gauge slitting line; cold mill and processing line terminal equipment; specifying and purchasing of overhead cranes; building maintenance; water recycling in order to save on purchased water costs; environmental protection; direct purchasing of natural gas supplies in order to lower heating and process costs; purchasing a 115,000/13,000 volt transformer for electrical cost savings.

Maintenance Superintendent 1966-1967 Supervised twenty foremen and about 250 workers to maintain the equipment in this specialty rod and bar facility. Equipment included everything from four electric arc furnaces to a hot blooming mill, continuous hot rod and bar mill, wire drawing machines, annealing furnaces, finishing machinery, and associated plant support equipment such as boilers, substations, cooling water systems, etc.

Plant Electrical Engineer (1964-1966) Supervised three foremen and about twenty men to maintain all the electrical equipment; and to design all new electrical equipment. Significant items were a 115KV electrical substation, a continuous rod and bar mill, and a 15000KVA electric arc furnace.

1) January, 1997: Acted as an expert industrial machinery consultant for the plaintiff metal processing plant in Wisconsin, and was deposed, as they were suing for non-performance to a contract when a machine they purchased did not perform as promised.
2) August, 1997: Acted as an expert industrial machinery consultant for the defendant steel company. The plaintiff was injured while unloading a coil from a steel rolling mill in Buffalo, New York.
3) October, 1997: Acted as an expert industrial machinery consultant for defendant steel company, in Ohio, and was deposed, in defending a lawsuit from a furnace builder where the steel company was refusing to pay for equipment that was unsatisfactory.
4) March, 2002 to April 2003: Acted as an expert electrical consultant for the plaintiff who was severely injured when he came in contact with 4,160 volts in an electrical substation in New York State.
5) September, 2002: Acted as an expert electrical consultant for the defendant electrical contractor. The plaintiff was severely injured when he came in contact with 13,200 volts in an electrical substation in New York State.
6) January, 2003: Acted as an expert industrial machinery consultant for the defendant Aluminum Company when a worker got injured while operating a processing line at a plant in West Virginia.
7) September, 2003: Acted as an expert electrical consultant for the defendant who was hurt on a Cincinnati milling machine in a machine shop in New York State.
8) December, 2004: Acted as an expert mechanical consultant for the defendant to calculate the relative positions of two vehicles in an automobile accident with a sheriff’s patrol car in New York State.

11) November, 2006: Acted as an expert electrical and industrial machinery consultant, and was deposed, for the plaintiff widow. Her husband was killed in an accident at an electric arc furnace in a steel mill in Kentucky.
12) February, 2007: Acted as an expert industrial machinery consultant for the plaintiff. She was injured while operating a paper stacking and gluing machine in New York State.
13) September, 2007: Acted as an expert electrical consultant for the defendant electrical contractor in a case where an electrician got electrocuted while doing maintenance work in a 480 volt switchgear assembly in a substation in New York State.
14) November, 2007: Acted as an expert electrical consultant for the plaintiff suing a utility in a case where a resident was killed by coming in contact with a 110 volt wire lying on the ground at a residence in New Jersey.
15) April, 2008: Acted as an expert industrial machinery consultant for a defendant paper manufacturer in New York State. The plaintiff was electrocuted when he came in contact with an improperly grounded machine part of a paper cutting machine.
16) June, 2008: Acting as an expert industrial machinery consultant for the plaintiff in a case where the plaintiff lost a leg due to an industrial accident while working on a rolling mill at a steel mill in Pennsylvania.
17) July, 2008: Acted as an expert electrical consultant in a case to determine the cause where a loss of back-up power caused the death of 60,000 laying hens, in an egg farm in New York State, from suffocation.
18) November, 2008: Negotiated to be an expert industrial machinery consultant in the case of a steel mill that has been denied the tax preference of other steel mills in the same state of Indiana that do similar work and have similar equipment.
19) December, 2008: Acted as an expert industrial machinery consultant for the defendant furnace manufacturer in a case where a worker lost his hand while working on a furnace of molten aluminum in New York State.
20) January, 2009: Acted as a forensic expert for the insurance company in the litigation over the cause of a fire in an addition being constructed to an apartment complex in New York State.
21) April, 2009: Acted as an electrical expert for the plaintiff injured party where a worker was injured by a furnace explosion in a steel mill in Pennsylvania.
22) February, 2009: Acted as a forensic expert for the insurance company to determine the cause of a fire in a residence garage, in New York State, that started in a personal handicap scooter while its battery was being recharged.
23) May, 2009: Acted as an electrical expert to determine the cause and suggest corrective measures to repair the damage caused by a lightning storm at an egg farm in New York State.
24) May, 2009: Acted as an expert industrial machinery consultant for the plaintiff injured party in a case where a steel worker was injured while operating a bar straightening machine in a steel processing plant in New York State.
25) June, 2009: Acted as an electrical expert for the defendant electrical contractor where a maintenance worker was killed while working on an amusement ride in an amusement park on a boardwalk on the New Jersey shore. The defendant was removed from the case after I gave a written opinion and was deposed.
26) September, 2009: Acted as a forensic expert to determine the cause of a house fire in New York State.
27) September, 2009: Acted as an electrical expert, and testified at trial, for the plaintiff in a case where a residence in New York State got damaged by water in the basement caused by the neighbor digging a trench and cutting into the 120 volt power feed to the plaintiff’s house.
28) September, 2009: Acted as an electrical expert for the insurance company to determine the cause of a refrigeration compressor failure due to a power interruption in a food processing plant in upstate New York.
29) October, 2009: Analyzed bids for the replacement of transformers damaged by lightning for an egg farm in New York State.
30) November, 2009: Did preliminary investigation of the cause of fire and short circuit failure of a line-up of 4,160 Volt switchgear in a hospital in New York State.
31) January, 2010: Acted as an expert electrical consultant for the defendant electrical contractor which was being sued by the printing company for the damage to and loss of business due to the improper wiring of a printing press after its move to a new location in New York State.
32) February, 2010: Negotiated to be the expert for the plaintiff who had his hand amputated as the result of an accident on a tube mill (a machine that makes tubing of various sizes from flat metal stock) in Alabama. This occurred when he was performing a routine maintenance job of replacing rolls in the machine.
33) February, 2010: Investigated the cause of a 2,500 KVA 34.5 KV to 480 Volt transformer failure at a chip making Facility in New York State.
34) April, 2010: Acting as an expert industrial machinery consultant for the injured plaintiff where the plaintiff was severely injured while cleaning the area in a steel warehouse in Pennsylvania.
35) May, 2010: Acted as an expert electrical consultant for the defendant architectural firm in a case where the plaintiff was injured while riding on the uplifted forks of a fork lift in New York State and came in contact with an overhead transmission line.
36) June, 2010: Acted as an expert to determine the origin & cause of a house fire in New York State. This fire was supposedly started in a room dehumidifier..
37) August, 2010: Acted as an industrial machinery expert for the defendant state taxing authority in a case where the plaintiff steel mill is demanding a reduction in sales and use taxes charged on equipment improvements in Arkansas. This case was settled during trail, in the favor of my client, after I was deposed and before I testified.
38) November, 2010: Acted as an expert for the defendant construction company in a case where a worker received an injury to her hand while working on a leveling and cut-to-length line in a can-making facility in New York State.
39) February, 2011: Acted as an expert for the plaintiffs in a case where three men were badly injured (one of them died) when an electric arc furnace blew up in a steel mill in Pennsylvania.
40) May, 2011: Acted as an expert for the defendant machine builder in case where a worker was killed in a scrap crusher in a steel scrap yard in New York State.
41) May, 2011: Acted as an expert for the plaintiffs in a case where a worker in a steel melt shop was severely injured by an oxygen lance in a steel mill in Indiana.
42) May, 2012: Acted as an expert for the plaintiff who is suing after he was severely injured when a pulley assembly being used to guide a set of 250MCM cables into a 6” conduit fell and struck him on the head in a water treatment facility in New York State.
43) June, 2012: Acted as an expert for plaintiff village that is suing for non-performance of a set of water pumping equipment in New York State.
44) July, 2012: Acted as an expert, and testified at trial for injured plaintiff who was injured while replacing the fan belt on a roof exhaust fan in a hospital in New York State.
45) September, 2012: Acted as an expert for the defendant general contracting Co. The plaintiff was injured when struck by a 120 volt wire on a construction job in New York State.
46) April, 2013: Acted as an expert for the defendant electrical contractor who was being sued for negligence after installing electrical circuitry in a Pizza Hut restaurant in New York State. Subsequently a worker was shocked by 120 volts from an improperly grounded piece of kitchen equipment.
47) April, 2013: Acted as an expert, and was deposed, for the plaintiff steel warehouse operation in California that is suing for a breach of contract. The plaintiff bought a slitting machine from the defendant company that was supposed to be rated at 40,000 pounds and discovered that it was rated at 20,000 pound capacity.
48) May, 2013: Acting as an expert for the plaintiff in a case where an electric arc furnace erupted in Pennsylvania severely injuring a worker.
49) June, 2013: Acted as an expert to testify to a New Jersey Zoning Board that the location of a new substation is against the better good of the community.
50) July, 2013: Acted as an electrical expert for the defendant in a patent infringement case from a Florida company against a Texas-based defendant.
