About Us
Graduated Texas A&M Jan 1961 BSME - Present or past Registered Mechanical Engineer and/or Registered Electrical Engineer in 26 States and one foreign territory plus NCEES Certificate 7447 (1978) National Engineering Certification in the Mechanical and Electrical engineering design disciplines. Multidiscipline (architectural, civil, structural, and MEP) project manager for more than 1300 construction projects including 150 federal government agency construction projects as large as $10,500,000.00 and the designer and Engineer of Record for the HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical (MEP) construction for most of these projects. Gerald Spencer, P.E. is experienced as an Expert Witness for MEP building system litigation.
HVAC
Gerald Spencer, P.E. is hands-on experienced with analyzing existing HVAC systems, diagnosing operational problems, and proposing long term and short term solutions to these problems. Our staff of engineers are particularly well acquainted in building operations and communicate very well with operating and maintenance personnel. You will find that our staff is at home with tools and instruments, as compared to the clean hands ivory tower type of engineer. This attitude generally shows through and makes our personnel more compatible with your operating and maintenance personnel. We always take the time to explain any changes in operating and maintenance procedures to your personnel so that they will fully understand and believe in any procedures that we recommend. SEI has extensive experience determining HVAC system requirements. SEI engineers have performed analysis of the HVAC systems listed in detail below.
Plumbing
Gerald R. Spencer, PE is the Engineer of Record (EOR) for the design of the plumbing systems in more than 1,300 construction projects over the past 48 years. Gerald R. Spencer, PE is experienced in the design of all types of plumbing systems such as high rise domestic cold and hot water pressurization, fire standpipes, fire sprinklers, domestic hot water generation by heat of compression reclaim, medical gas distribution systems, laboratory services, sewage treatment, water wells, domestic water systems, storm sewer systems, sanitary sewer systems, natural gas distribution systems, backflow prevention systems, gray water systems and FMC & Halon fire protection systems. These projects have been located in Arctic, Desert, Coastal, Earthquake, and Hurricane areas.
Electrical
Gerald R. Spencer, P.E. is registered electrical engineer with experience at the Engineer of Record (EOR) for the design and the construction of the electrical systems for more than 1300 privately funded projects and publicly funded construction, improvements and remodeling projects. These federal projects required a knowledge of DoD Criteria, Corps of Engineers Technical Manuals, NASA, USAF, NIMA, and Department of State Design Guidelines, plus the rules and regulations governing military construction acquisition FAR's and DFAR's. Federal projects normally require that we document all of our design calculations and all of our design decisions into a Formal Report or Design Analysis to justify our systems design configurations, system calculations and design decisions. This documentation is normally reviewed with comments provided to us by our federal agency client's in-house engineers for us to respond as a part of the normal project design phase. Gerald R. Spencer, P.E. is the Engineer of Record responsible for the design and the construction of more than 1300 Interior and Exterior Lighting Design, Interior Electrical Power Distribution, Exterior Power Distribution to Class 35kV, Large Un-interruptible Power Systems, Large Emergency Parallel Power Generation Systems to 11.4 mVA, Electrical Power reliability and quality Analysis, Harmonic and other irregular electrical current analysis with remedial correction recommendations and designs for corrective modifications to eliminate operational problem occurrences caused by electrical power
