About Us
Gerald M. Dworkin (Gerry) is a professional Aquatics Safety & Water Rescue Consultant for Lifesaving Resources LLC, a company dedicated to drowning and aquatic injury prevention and emergency management. As a frequent guest speaker and trainer in the Lifeguard, Aquatics Safety and Recreation sector, as well as the Public Safety and Rescue sector, he is recognized internationally as an expert and qualified educator in drowning and aquatic injury prevention and emergency management.

Dworkin is the author of the "Lifeguard Competition Guidebook", the "Professional Aquatics Safety Seminar Guidebook", the "Water Rescue Course Guidebook", and the "Ice Rescue Course Guidebook", all published by Lifesaving Resources, as well as "CPR for Infants and Children" published by the Child Welfare League of America. He has also written and published over 40 articles that have been published in Aquatic, Recreation, EMS, and Firefighting trade journals, and many of these articles are available within the ISSUES IN SAFETY AND RESCUE section of the Lifesaving Resources' website. He has an extensive background in Aquatics Safety, Water Rescue, Swiftwater Rescue, Ice Rescue, EMS, and Public Safety and Rescue.

Dworkin is a graduate from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut, with a B.S. degree in Physical Education and a clinical affiliation in Corrective Therapy. He also worked and consulted for the American Red Cross as a Health and Safety Services Professional/Consultant from 1972 through 1986. Dworkin has over 40 years of professional, volunteer, and paid-on-call experience as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). He worked as a volunteer Firefighter for the Long Hill Vol. Fire Department in Connecticut (1970 - 1973); the Abbey Richmond Ambulance Service in New York (1975 - 1980); the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department in Virginia (1990 - 1994); the Harrisville Fire and Rescue Department in New Hampshire (1997 - 2011); and is currently a Firefighter/EMT for the Kennebunkport Fire Department in Maine since 2012.

Dworkin currently serves on a Sounding Board for the National Headquarters of the American Red Cross for the development of their Lifeguard training programs. He serves on an Advisory Committee for the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. And, he serves on the Board of Directors for the National Drowning Prevention Alliance (www.ndpa.org), a national non-profit organization dedicated to drowning and aquatic injury prevention and water safety. In 2010, Dworkin was named by Aquatics International Magazine as one of the Power 25 Aquatic Industry Leaders in the country. Dworkin is also a member of the National Water Safety Congress, and the United States Lifesaving Association. In 2014, he received the Ripple Award from the NDPA for his work in drowning and aquatic injury prevention and in water rescue and ice rescue. He is also a recipient of the American Red Cross Certificate of Merit.

In addition to his training programs, he has consulted in over 250 drowning and aquatic injury litigation cases as both a Plaintiff (85%) and Defense (15%) Expert. Dworkin's area of expertise is in Lifeguard Training, Operations and Management; Drowning and Aquatic Injury Prevention and Emergency Management; Water Rescue and Swiftwater Rescue; Cold Water Survival and Ice Rescue; Basic Life Support CPR and EMS; and Escape and Rescue from Submerged Vehicles. As an Expert Consultant, Dworkin evaluates the Standard of Care as it pertains to Incident Prevention, Victim Recognition, and Emergency Management and provides accident reconstruction, depositions, written reports, and courtroom testimony.

Lifesaving Resources provides technical assistance in the development and production of educational and training materials including films, videotapes, textbooks, and products relating to Aquatic Safety, Water Rescue, Ice Rescue, EMS, and Technical Rescue. Dworkin has appeared on numerous national media broadcasts as a subject matter expert, including CNN; MSNBC News; CBS' Early Show; ABC's Good Morning America; NBC's Today Show; The Weather Channel; The Discovery Channel; and the Fire Emergency Training Network.

Lifesaving Resources was created om 1985 in Texas and was relocated to the metropolitan Washington, DC area from 1985 - 1997. The company relocated to New Hampshire in 1997 and in 2011 the company then relocated to Kennebunkport, Maine.
