I have almost 30 years in the railroad industry as a research and consulting engineer. My areas of expertise include Derailment Cause Assessment, Rail Vehicle Performance and Design Analysis, Wheel and Rail Contact Mechanics, Track Performance and Design Analysis, and analysis and understanding of Vehicle/Track Interaction Issues. My first 11 years in the industry were with the Association of American Railroads at the Transportation Technology Center in research and development where I worked on the standard wheel profile for North American freight service, development of the industry standard rail vehicle/track interaction computer simulation tool. The next 18 years were spent consulting with Progressive Rail Technologies. There I worked on derailment analysis projects, rail vehicle testing, and the analysis of wayside detection system data. My skill sets rank me among the top North American consulting railway engineers.
