Specialties:
The first activity sphere is engineering design services in a variety of applications including process industries (such as power production, chemical processing, chemical storage, pulp and paper, and food processing), product design, and facility design. The designs have encompassed preliminary, detail, and final design phases, including construction and start-up services mainly but not exclusive to industrial applications. Allied experience is in the acoustical and environmental fields.
The second activity sphere is the development and implementation of a steam production thermodynamic model for steam and power generation. The model, called the Virtual Energy Audit, is written in Excel to replicate the operations of specific power plant to predict optimum operational parameters, record whole plant operational records, allow modification studies, and integrate with automated control systems for numerous purposes. The creation of the models has entailed detailed examination of the thermodynamics and principles of all stream and electrical generational production equipment.
Experience:
• VA:W, Principal, mechanical engineering consulting & software application development, 1993 to present, with interruptions
Projects:
Virtual Energy Audit: software development for power plant replication
Chemical storage and distribution: Layout of new facility to store and distribute commodity chemicals
Concrete pad evaluation: Dept. of Ecology based evaluation of a storage area concrete pad
Chemical Storage layout: Layout and detailed design of an expanded chemical storage areas
Chemical Hoist Design: Design of a traveling hoist to lift 4500 lb. powder supersacks for unloading into a blend tank.
